Welcome friend! Thanks for stopping by!
I'm Lindsey, an adventure lifestyle photographer born and raised in Washington State. I'm also a sailor, a skier, backpacker, rock climber, and trained mountaineer. My journey to creative purpose began as a kid raised in the world of camping, hiking and horsemanship. Nights spent under a canopy of stars in an open field, long easy rides at sunrise and hikes to the hidden lakes of the Cascade Mountains laid the foundation for an enduring connection to the beauty and power of the natural world. After earning a degree in Communications from Santa Clara University, I began a corporate career in storytelling that took me from Seattle to Norway where my connection to the natural environment was celebrated as a cultural norm the the philosphy and practice of "friluftsliv."
I traveled from the towering peaks of the Norwegian fjords to the bustling markets of Istanbul, honing my craft in visual storytelling. After leading a group of six international couples on a five day journey through Norway's fjord country and documenting their experience, little by little. my photography passion has blossomed into my life’s work.
I now specialize in adventure elopements, couples adventure sessions, outdoor family portraits, and commercial adventure photography. I've shot for outdoor and travel centric brands like REI, Helly Hansen. La Sportiva, Arcteryx, Filson. Eddie Bauer, Clipper Vacations, Darn Tough Vermont, Xtra Tuff, Deuter, LOGE Camps, Hipcamp, Airbnb and many others.
Explore Life Outside.
The Norwegian term "Friluftsliv" literally translates to free air free life. It is an ancient philosophy emphasizing the intrinsic organic and energetic connection we all have to the earth. In Norway, like many other cultures "open air living" is necessary for wellbeing. It is the motivation behind "allmansrätten," the "right to roam," where legally people have the right to walk or camp practically anywhere, as long as they show respect for the surrounding nature, wildlife and locals. Both of these ways of living and being in nature guide my outdoor principles and how I work with clients.
You might have noticed, I'm a little different from most other photographers. For me, an outdoor experience is as much about appreciating the beauty of nature as it is about caring for the earth. Photography sessions aren't JUST about epic photos. They are an opportunity to truly cherish the planet through action. Outdoor experiences shape our lives, but mother nature cannot speak for herself. As a photographer, outdoor leader, and advocate I seek to be a voice working on behalf of the planet through my art and relationships.
I currently serve as the regional staff representative and leader for the Pacific Northwest branch "Nature First: The Alliance for Responsible Nature Photography." I'm committed to minimizing human impact on public lands and wild places through Leave No Trace Principles. I'm also a photography partner of Washington's National Parks Fund, the non-profit responsible for stewardship and fundraising on behalf of Mount Rainier National Park, North Cascades National Park, and Olympic National Park.
What does this mean for you?
As a Washington Native, with a formal partnership with Washington's National Parks, I have intimate and in depth knowledge and connection to Washington's most cherished wild places. As a seasoned global adventurer having lived in a place with a unique cultural understanding of nature, I know how to tread safely and respectfully in the outdoors. I'm experienced in planning, leading and organizing trips for international travelers and families. I'm also a ski instructor and dedicate time to outdoor education for our youth. I know how to marry physical activity and education and make it FUN! I'm trained in Wilderness First Aid (WFA Certified) and Backcountry Navigation. The trips I lead are designed to minimize human impact on our most cherished and delicate wild places.
I want to capture the synergy between you and the environment, not your dominance over it.
My clients come to me wanting more than drool worthy Instagram photos. They seek a meaningful and inspiring experience. They don't come to exploit Mother Nature through their session, but rather honor and connect with her; and ultimately with themselves. A return to nature through outdoor experience is a return to our true essence, the best version of ourselves. This is the version of you that I capture and document through my lens.
If you're looking for a photographer willing to do anything, including trampling delicate ecosystems to get you the most epic outdoor photo imaginable, I won't be for you. If you want to get creative in capturing your connection to the great outdoors with a photographer who has a mindfulness for both the power and delicate beauty of nature, I'm the perfect fit.
